About me
I was born in Aachen, Germany, in 1939. After finishing highschool in Mönchengladbach-Rheydt in 1959 I studied medicine in Munich, Erlangen, Hamburg and Düsseldorf. I obtained my PhD in Düsseldorf in 1965. From 1971 to 2001 I had my own practice as neurologist, psychiatrist and psychotherapist in Mönchengladbach-Rheydt. Since 2001 I am retired but I still work as court psychologist at the district court.
From 1965 to 2002 I was married to Brigitte Blum, born Brigitte Backus. We have three daughters, all married and six grandchildren. After the sudden death of my wife Brigitte in 2002 I remarried in 2005 with Christa Bailoff who also has three daughters.

In 1954 I designed my first ex libris. Since 1978 I have been an ex libris collector. Presently I have over 430 ex libris with either my name or the name of my relatives. The main emphasis of my collection is ex libris about medicine, death, erotic, archaeology and ex libris from the period from 1850 to 1940. I released my first publication about ex libris for doctors in 1983. Since then I have published eleven books and several articles about ex libris. There are more publications in the works that will appear soon.
Since 1978 I am a member of the German Ex libris Society (DEG). In 1990 I became the treasurer of the executive committee of the DEG. From 1992 - 2012 I was the president of the DEG. From 1980 to 2002 I was the organizer of the yearly DEG conference as well as the international ex libris congress FISAE in 1990 which each time took place in Mönchengladbach-Rheydt.

Hobbys: above all my family, then of course collecting ex libris and literature about it, archaeology, travelling and visiting museums and ancient places.
I enjoy trading my ex libris, as well as buying new ones and selling dublicates except the ones I designed.
